History

To enhance otological research, share research insights, improve otological health awareness, and engage in both domestic and international academic exchanges, Professor Chuan-Jen Hsu brought together 48 academic experts on October 20, 2016, leading to the establishment of the Taiwan Academy of Otology (TAO) on May 7, 2017, at the Mackay Memorial Hospital. Aimed at promoting the field of otology, TAO has set up committees focused on international relations, academic and medical affairs, and specialist evaluation. Its primary mission is to participate actively in global otolaryngological academic events and to encourage communication among the emerging generation of otologists.

2016

  • 10.20 The 1st President Professor Chuan-Jen Hsu from Taichung Tzu Chi Hospital and the original 48 members initiated the established process of the Taiwan Academy of Otology (TAO) (General Secretary: Hung-Pin Wu)

2017

  • 5.7 Taiwan Academy of Otology (TAO) was officially established

2020

  • Professor Tien-Chen Liu from National Taiwan University was elected as the 2nd President (General Secretary: Chen-Chi Wu)

2022

  • MOU signed with Japan Otological Society.

2023

  • MOU signed with Korean Otological Society.
  • Professor Chung-Feng Hwang from Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital was elected as the 3rd President (General Secretary: Chao-Hui Yang)
